= Had An Abortion =
Women who have had an abortion can be prone to having another abortion, especially if the circumstances of the prior abortion have not changed.
Abortion Is A Difficult Decision To Make
The decision to have an abortion is never an easy one and is often made in a time of great stress. Many women and men may feel relief following an abortion, or at least perceive that stress has been reduced. However, many women and men can experience other negative psychological affects after abortion. Feelings can be mixed and seem contradictory. For example there can be feelings of relief as well as sadness, loneliness, shame, guilt, grief, doubt and regret.
Abortion Is A Perinatal Loss
It is often assumed that women and men will not experience grief and loss following abortion, because it is something that they have chosen. Just as we have come to recognize that anyone who has had a miscarriage has lost a child it is important to recognize that abortion involves the loss of a child as well.
Abortion Can Affect Men Too
Although abortion is often regarded as a women’s issue it is now recognised that men can struggle to come to terms with abortion as well.
