If your partner is unexpectedly pregnant you can be faced with many of the same issues as her. Many of the same feelings of confusion may exist. Feelings can vary depending on a number of factors:

  • being young
  • scared to tell your parents
  • not having a job or enough money
  • feeling unsure of what your role is in the decision making process
  • pressure from friends or family
  • being single
  • feeling unsupported
  • being older
  • already having children
  • a possible (foetal) health concern
  • a previous pregnancy loss or abortion
  • While, legally you may have little say in your partner's choice, your support of her at this stage may effect the outcome of the pregnancy. It may be decided to continue the pregnancy or not.  Either decision will affect the rest of your life.

Friends and family can be helpful to talk to, but sometimes it helps to talk to someone who is
"outside" the situation, someone who is willing to listen. If you are in this situation, we invite you to take advantage of our crisis pregnancy phone line. It is free and confidential.
